The course covers a range of fundamental and applied topics in the study of metals, including: the nature of metals, encompassing metallic bonding, crystal structures, and their physical and chemical properties; crystallization processes and the formation of alloys; interpretation and use of phase diagrams; the principles and mechanisms of corrosion; the fundamentals of metallography; and a historical overview of metal use and production.
