ZKF PRAXIS

The ZKF for students in the 3rd to 6th semester is conceived as a continuation and deepening of the initiation that begins with an experimental week at the Commons Hub in Hirschwang, together with the new students of ZKF 1. There we work without distraction, in a concentrated atmosphere, creating a space in which free experimentation becomes possible – an experience we bring back with us to Vienna and carry forward throughout the semester in our artistic practice.

As the semester unfolds, Liz and Mel, supported by Patricia, accompany the students; Luzius extends the program in individual sessions. The focus of this cycle is on digital production: not material, but data; not body, but pixel; not object, but interface. The field of play is twofold – on the one hand, the Immersive Lab, a space of total projection, and on the other, the omnipresence of screens, surfaces, and codes that structure everyday life.

The semester theme will be announced in Hirschwang, the accompanying script will be distributed afterwards. Students who cannot attend the experimental week are equally integrated into the program: for them, a personal experiment setup will be provided.

In addition to ZKF Praxis, the ZKF Theorie “Lecture + Nails” takes place. This is held every Thursday from 14:00–15:00.

Examination Modalities

Attendance in the lecture series.

Interactivity and participation in the Praxis series.

Handing in a paper or a project, depending on performance during the semester.

  2. Registration here is for to both Praxis and Lecture & Nails.

  3. Students doing the 2nd ZKF also take part here, but you must register for ZKF 1–2.
