Description
In this course, we will examine texts by trans authors that can be understood as poetic fiction as well as theoretical contributions. We will read short excerpts together, e.g. by Nora Treatbaby, Callum Angus, Kai Cheng Thom, Kay Gabriel, Cameron Awkward-Rich, Kashif Sharma-Patel, Amy Marvin, Hannah Baer, Rosie Stockton, Juliana Huxtable, Nat Raha, and Lars Horn.
However, the idea behind the course is to use reading as a starting point for own writing/crafting/thinking and thus entering into dialogue with the texts. We resonate, overwrite, black out, pick apart, assemble and write between the lines. Theoretical reflection and poetic processes are interwoven, as in many of the works we read. We decide together which language we will speak, German or English, but knowledge of English is necessary for understanding the texts.
Examination Modalities
1. Artistic reaction to one or more of the texts read in the seminar + a 1-page reflection on the process
or
2. Reflection on the reading (3 pages)
