Description
The course is affiliated with the ceramics studio programs of the University of Applied Arts Vienna. It is intended to take place in cooperation with the university’s ceramics collection.
Throughout the course, students will engage both theoretically and practically with tacit, craft-based, and artistic forms of knowledge. Using objects from the MAK collection, they will learn to read, decode, and interpret these pieces artistically and craft-wise, in the spirit of “material literacy” (A.S. Lehmann, 2016).
Examination Modalities
Assessment is based on the work produced and takes the form of an oral examination or presentation at the end of the semester.
Attendance is mandatory (minimum 80%).

The course is intended as a continuation of a completed introductory course in the ceramics studio. !!ATTENTION: The course will be conducted in a co-teaching format with Sascha Zaitseva. Therefore, you will need to register again on BASE for Sascha Zaitseva’s course, using the same course title.
