In this block seminar, we will explore short prose in all its forms – from the vignette and the portrait to the prose poem. We will read examples, experiment with these formats in writing exercises, and discuss your results together in the workshop.

Special attention will also be given to digital forms of short prose – such as text messages or social media comments – which continue classical genres in new media environments.

The aim is to gain knowledge of the different forms while also learning the economies of storytelling, the art of omission, and the precision of suggestion.

Active participation in the workshops as well as the submission of a portfolio of texts at the end of the semester.
