2025W, Lecture with Practical Exercises (VU), 2.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S05618
Description
The projection of an image is significantly determined by its carrier.
Materiality and properties of possible image carriers are discussed in light of the ideas and artistic projects of the students. For this, we work with a light-sensitive liquid whose properties make it especially versatile for analogue photography. Which material is suitable for this particular image / this special photography? We will consider materials and, accordingly, apply them to the envisioned images. Due to the analogue application when working in the darkroom during this block course, accidents will occur, and I want to encourage reflection on how meaningful they can be and to consider incorporating them where appropriate.
In the pre-meeting on Monday, October 13 at 11:00 in Meeting Room 4 (OKPF, 1st OG) we will discuss possible surfaces and materials that we want to work with. I want to encourage exploring what can be exposed and why.
During the course itself and the active work in the darkroom, students may bring their own photographs in the form of analogue B/W-negatives or foils and the materials associated with them.
Pre-meeting: Monday, October 13 at 11:00, Meeting Room 4 (OKPF, 1st floor)
