The Art of Serving.

Food is more than sustenance. It is a material, a message, and a site of cultural meaning. It tells stories, spark conversations, and create powerful shared experiences. 

Drawing from Ojay Morgan’s ongoing project Blk Haus, which explores food through the lens of Blackness, we will look at how nourishment, hospitality, and ritual can be used to investigate identity, memory, and resistance. Participation becomes a tool for thinking, feeling, and unlearning.

In this workshop, we’ll explore food as a creative force. We’ll treat serving and eating as part of the artwork itself. The goal isn’t to make perfect objects, but to create shared immersive experiences that blur the line between artist and audience.

The three-day workshop takes place in the winter semester.

Ojay Morgan, also known as Zebra Katz, is a multidisciplinary artist working across performance, installation, sound, visual art, and creative direction. Their work often invites people into bold, sensory environments that explore themes of identity, race, and culture.
