Description
How do player's constitute play?
This might depent on the people and the play or game, we focus on. This course sets out to explore different perspectives on practices of play: playing itself, but also practices related to games and play.
In context of play… - is our lead in this semester. How does play relate to processes of social distinction and social participation? What “bundle of practices” constitute playing as a social interaction? And what does that tell us about social relations re-/constituted in games?
Following the participant’s interest we will explore different “contexts of game and play” in field studies.
Examination Modalities
Attendance, active participation: readingthe seminar literture and preparing a short input, seminar paper
Comments
The max. number of participants is 25. Students of the Experimental Game Cultures programm will be given priority. Registration will be confirmed by attendance at the first session. Working language of the course is English.
