This course is restricted to students of the BA program Transformation Studies. Art x Science.

The first two weeks of the semester will feature a series of welcoming events, introductory lectures, and guided tours around the JKU and Angewandte campuses. You will be able to familiarise yourself with key localities and services at both institutions and meet with faculty, teachers, and peers. 

The technical introduction will be supplemented with a short field trip to sites that have undergone significant transformations over the past decades. Together, we explore some of the key drivers and pathways of change in their historical settings and unpack their multiple dimensions, temporalities, and intersectional effects.

Drawing on the material and observations gathered during the field trip, we will conduct small group projects and mapping exercises throughout the semester,  introducing you to basic principles of research in a collaborative setting with inputs from other courses across disciplines.

A detailed schedule will be sent out at the beginning of September.

Your performance will be graded on the basis of group exercises (mappings) and your continuous participation and critical input in class.

Attendance in this course is mandatory. Absences without legitimate justifications will result in a failed grade.
