Transdisziplinarity in Art & Science I

Martin Reinhart
Institute of Fine Arts and Media Art, Art & Science
2025W, Lecture with Practical Exercises (VU), 6.0 ECTS, 3.0 semester hours, course number S04453

Description

This course is primarily aimed at students of the Art & Science Department and engages with this year’s annual theme “Memory.” The phenomenon will be explored through biological, philosophical, cultural, and technological lenses.

Rather than treating memory as a static archive, the course approaches it as a dynamic, constructed, and often contested process — one that shapes identity, knowledge, and imagination. From neural pathways to collective rituals, from digital storage to personal recollection, memory connects art and science in profound and complex ways. Students are invited to investigate memory as both method and material, culminating in an interdisciplinary exhibition where memory becomes a lens for creative exploration.
