The course is intended as a framework and field of experimentation for students to explore their own areas of interest, conditions and escapades in art in the first year of their studies. And to reflect on what an artistic process can be and which of these can take place in the generation of art.

If we understand art as a system, as the title of this seminar suggests, what are the actors, materials and connecting elements in this system? Which system elements in (media) art exist at all? We will try to clarify basic definitions and terms and, using examples of current art production as well as references to historical works, try to give an initial idea of connections, materialities and contextualizations.

The lessons are inherently processual. In short studies and joint discussions, we will focus on the topics mentioned, try to grasp (basic) concepts of art and formulate our own initial working approaches through self-experiments and exercises as well as group discussions.

The course serves to shape the group of the new students of the Transmedia Art class.
