From idea to exhibition: approaches to the painted image.
This lecture introduces historical and contemporary objectives of painting, as well as related technical approaches. The practical part of the course involves applying these techniques to enhance the students' painterly repertoire and reflect their individual artistic practices and the possibilities of expression within the medium.
The course has a chronological structure and covers the key steps in creating a painting: developing an initial idea, creating sketches, selecting a medium and technique, realising the painting, completing it, critically reflecting on it, and presenting it
Examination Modalities
Participation in class activities, presentation of a specific painting technique and a semester project.
Comments
The number of participants is limited. Students from the Painting and Animation Film department will be given priority, as this is a compulsory course for them.
The teaching languages are German and English.
Sophia Mairer will continue the course in the summer semester.
