Urban Strategies and Theory of the Landscape

Andrea Börner
Institute of Architecture , Urban Strategies
2025W, scientific seminar (SEW), 3.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S02700

Description

The course looks at different scales of urbanized landscapes, questioning the relationship between densely built cores and seemingly supportive hinterlands.

In lectures, readings and seminar, and by means of selected examples, common paradigms of spatial organizational principles are critically reflected in order to reassess their relevance  with regard to current dynamics.

Examination Modalities

Continuous assessment through frequent and active participation.

Presentation, investigation of a sub-topic.

Seminar-work: written work with negotiable focus, related to individual interest and the subject of the course.

Comments

Priority is given to students of architecture who did not yet participate in the course and are in their higher semesters from the 2nd semester on. Ranking is made by semester level and time of registration. Others are very welcome as long as there are places.
