Description

 

In this course, we follow the traces of the development of recording technologies in order to examine the appearance of photographic images: From the science-related beginnings to areas such as reportage, fashion and advertising  ( applied ) photography to the present day.

Using selected examples from the publication Manifeste! the work methods of various photographers are explored and the theories of the different eras discussed. The student’s own critical viewpoint should be sharpened through independent research of more recent approaches to photography.

The introductory course aims to provide basic knowledge of photographic approaches, to examine them from a gender perspective and to draw a thread through the history of image production in still and moving images.

Examination Modalities

Inherent to the course : 80% attendance. Presentation and a written manifest on photography.

Comments

80% attendance required. Due to the seminar nature of the course, access is limited. Students of the Institute of Design will be prioritised. We ask for your understanding.
