Institute of Architecture , Structural Design
2025W, scientific seminar (SEW), 3.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S01525
Description
DigDesFab25
in collaboration with:
Wolf Mangelsdorf, Florian Medicus and the Structure, Materials, Tectonics and Space class
This seminar researches the application of contemporary digital design and fabrication methods in applied, full-scale implementations. Student groups will generate knowhow through the analysis of reference examples, and will design prototypes in full-scale by using easily processable materials. Special emphasis will be put on the successful interaction of digital design and production technology. The classwork is experimental and research oriented, different materials and architectural systems will be researched, discussed and applied.
Examination Modalities
Structures will be built and exhibited in full scale (group work).
Attendance and participation is required throughout the whole design and production process. The class will take place in one or multiple sessions, time & place TBC.
Final review presentation/ submission of a print medium/ a data CD.
Comments
Applying design principles in an hands-on, applied way.
Learning of knowhow in virtual analyzing methods in evaluating design geometries and digital production methods.
Interest in digital design and production methods, knowledge in parametric/algorithmic modeling,
