Description

Science and Technology for Global Challenges: From Theory to Local Action

This course explores how science and technology can be leveraged to address global challenges through evidence-based approaches. With a focus on hands-on, project-based learning, students will collaborate in groups to investigate a specific global issue and develop local, actionable strategies. This will be done by zooming in on small-scale, individual-level interventions and zooming out to broader systemic contexts.

The course builds upon theoretical foundations introduced in Introduction to Science and Technology (Winter Term 2024/2025) but is designed to be accessible to all students, regardless of prior enrollment in that course.

Examination Modalities

The modalities for this course require active engagement in group work, with a focus on a specific project that can be individually chosen. This includes developing a project plan, conducting an evaluation, and delivering a project presentation.

Key Words

science, technology, global challenges
