2025S, Projektarbeit (PA), 8.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S05567
Description
Forecast
The BA CDC Lab is the central study area in the CDS program, where cross-disciplinarity is practiced in both a research-based project and a scientific paper. Leaning on this year’s CDS research theme Forecast, the lab offers inputs, guest lectures, workshops, and individual mentoring. During the course of the semester/year, students have the possibility to work individually or collaboratively, discussing their progress with supervisors and guests.
Selected projects will be presented during Angewandte Festival 2025, showcasing processes and works that critically and creatively engage with the concept of forecast. Bridging art, science, and philosophy, Forecast presents applied projects alongside reflective investigations that question the technologies, narratives, and power structures shaping our visions of heterogenous and oftentimes conflictual futures. From speculative design to data-driven scenarios and case study research, the works explore how forecasting informs action, imagination, and responsibility across disciplines engaging with global challenges.
Optional: March 28–April 4: Excursion to the Netherlands with a focus on technologies, practices, narratives, and aesthetics of forecasting, visiting different sites, institutions, platforms, and experts in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Delft, and The Hague.
Offered together with Gudrun Ratzinger and Yona Schreyer, each heading a focus group.
