Teaching on Display — Graphic design for Angewandte Festival

Together we will develop the visual communication for the contributions of KKP, DEX and TEX at the Angewandte Festival 2025. The aim of the seminar is to develop a design that connects the various contributions, communicates the program and makes the artistic teaching visible. In doing so, we approach a conceptual design practice through the means of graphic design. Our work builds on and complements the exhibition concept developed in parallel in the seminar “The Carrier Bag Theory of Exhibition-Making”.

In the first part of the course, we use unconventional methods to explore the topics of layout, design in space and various experimental forms of communication. This open approach is intended to expand thinking spaces and open up new perspectives. The second part begins with a practical analysis of the technical and organizational requirements of the festival. Building on this, we will discuss the potential of various media and formats. The focus is on a collective process in which we develop a creative concept for communicating the content. Whether poster or performance—the central focus is on the content-related examination of the location and the works shown. In the last part of the seminar, we will focus on the practical implementation of the developed concept and the production of the individual media for the festival.
