"The Thinking Body"

This course explores the integration of movement and dramaturgy in media arts, focusing on what it means to have a body as an artist. Through indoor and outdoor exercises, we’ll enhance awareness and practice entering performative states. Students will develop skills in combining movement with technology, exploring dramaturgy and mise en scène to create interactive stagings. Collaboration and experimentation are key, with participants bringing existing or sketched personal works to develop. The course aims to generate outputs, ideally showcased at the Angewandte Festival, bridging performance art and digital expression.

Examination Modalities

 

  • Participation and engagement -80% participation is required.
  • assignments and individual learning.
  • Evaluation of individual  progress 
  • Personal project (includes concept development, execution, and presentation)

Course Outline:  

**The Body and Space**

- Exploring the relationship between the performer’s body and the performance space.

- Exercises in body awareness and spatial dynamics.

 

**Introduction to Interactive Performance**

- Introduction to key concepts: dramaturgy, mise en scène, and performativity.

- Peer discussion: Ideas for interactive narratives  .
