Description
From the idea to the exhibition - approaches to the painted image
-- Continuation of the lecture in WiSe 24/25 --
The lecture gives an introduction to historical and contemporary objectives of painting and the related technical approaches. In the practical part of the course, the application of those techniques aims not only to enhance the painterly repertoire of the students, but also to reflect the possibilities of representation within the medium, above all in relation to the students' individual practices.
The class follows a chronological structure. After the focus in WiSe on the process of creating a painting, in the SoSe we think about (the) painting in context. What happens with the finished piece? From titles, documentation and writing about painting, to exhibition making, we will test attributions of meaning and question the professional field.
Examination Modalities
Participation in exercises and discussions, small tasks, final presentation of a semester project
Comments
The number of participants is limited for reasons of space. Students of the Painting and Animation Film department will be ranked first, as this is a compulsory course for them.
The languages used in the class are German and English.
