Description
Stranger than Fiction: Storytelling for Science and Technology
Science and technology pose unique challenges in communication and public engagement. This course provides an introduction to project-based work focused on developing diverse forms of text and audio production for science and technology outreach. Students will explore various journalistic and artistic formats, both in theory and practice, to craft compelling narratives that make complex scientific and technological topics more accessible and engaging.
Prior knowledge in Science and Technology Studies is helpful but not required. If you bring a passion for fact-based storytelling, that's more than enough.
Examination Modalities
- Regular attendance and active participation
- Four assignments throughout the course, covering:
- Reading: Engaging with selected texts on science and technology
- Writing: Developing written narratives
- Listening: Exploring audio-based storytelling
- Recording: Producing audio content as part of project-based work
