Description
What’s going on? More Faces, More Places
What defines the character of a city, what gives it its face? Architecture, parks, infrastructure, institutions, as well as the city’s population, its communities, its nightlife, its cultural facilities… Art is ever-present in the urban context, more so than we often realise. While certain artworks and art spaces are firmly anchored in collective awareness, others go almost unnoticed, like hidden little gems.
In weekly tours through the city, we gain insight into Vienna's art scene, discover various art venues, and sharpen our perception of how our surroundings are designed. The course takes us to exhibitions, project spaces, and studios, where we encounter different organisational structures and engage in conversations with various protagonists. On our collective explorations through the city, we discover public art – urban designs, memorials, art on buildings, and temporary interventions.
Examination Modalities
Regular, active participation is compulsory. Participants are asked to present a work of art, a façade design, architecture, or something similar that they regularly encounter in their daily life.
Comments
The course addresses first-year students, students of the Department of Site-Specific Art, and students on the Erasmus programme in particular.
When: Fridays from 10am–1pm
Where: varying locations The meeting point will be announced in advance in the Base and via email.
Restricted number of participants (20)
As needed, the course will be held in German and/or English.
