Institute of Studies in Art and Art Education, Center for Didactics of Art and Interdisciplinary Education
2025S, Vorlesung und Übungen (VU), 1.0 ECTS, 1.0 semester hours, course number S04415
Description
Bring your discipline and/or artistic approaches - come with your speculative ideas - be brave to implement collaboratively!
The focus is on participatory, collaborative and transdisciplinary approaches from the fields/concepts of open arts, socially engaged art, collaborative knowledge production and citizen science.
The course will be introduced during the first block date in March, followed by a theoretical introduction.
The experimental lab offers a space to question dominant narratives (for example about the future and sustainable development, (circular) economy, urban planning, social justice, innovation, leadership and education) and to redesign them with the help of transdisciplinary approaches.
Art in the context of citizen science is a relatively young field of interest in science and society. The term citizen science was originally coined in projects from the environmental sciences and biology.
However, since DOCUMENTA XIII in 2012 at the latest - and even before that at DOCUMENTA XI in 2002 - art has been part of the art discourse as a mode of knowledge production (including artistic research).
The experimental lab invites its participants to critically examine what this “vocation of knowledge production” in art (and design) actually has in store for other disciplinary fields.
Learning objectives and activities of this lab are:
Introduction to participative, collaborative and experimental as well as future-oriented approaches in open arts, collaborative knowledge production and citizen science
- Introduction to funding opportunities and practical tips for realizing projects
- Getting familiar with the “Critical Friends” feedback method
- Introduction to the possible fields of application in teaching including open educational resources
- Collaborative development of a citizen science project or design of an individual project concept
Examination Modalities
Regular participation, active feedback and/or presentation of a concept or project
(course immanent to examination)
Comments
We generate PEER feedback to participant's ideas, concepts or runing projects.
