1) Methods for the analyses of objects (metal, glass, ceramics) will be explained with practical examples.  Microchemical spot tests for the identification of metals will be carried out on reference and unknown objects.

Metal objects selected by the students (e.g. private, or from the semester projects) will be analysed and the related problematics will be diuscused.

2) How to plan a test series and how to evaluate the results: each student  will plan and elaborate a theoretical test series on given research questions

The students will learn how to define the analytical questions that need to be answered for the development of a conservation strategy, and how to plan an investigation campaign.

->The successful completion of Chemische Grundlagen and health and safety für RestauratorInnen (or equivalent) and Metal 1 are mandatory to access this course!!
