By attending the Independent Space INDEX Festival on 30 and 31 May 2025, seminar participants are invited to approach contemporary art exhibitions in a site-specific, performative and situational way, to relate to them, to position themselves in relation to them or possibly even to boycott them. We will analyse and formulate our perceptions in relation to works, exhibitions and their themes, the characteristics of the materials, locations, use of space, financing, reference to (socio-)political issues or omissions and omissions, and the realisation of a glossary, which will be created together with the Buch und Papier workshop, will critically reflect on the exhibition visits and play a central role in communicating about what we have seen and experienced. In the transformation from real to medial (or virtual) space and in the realisation of an artistic work, the question of what is document and what is practice in art is negotiated.own ‘pieces’ can be performed, assembled, smuggled in, documented, viewed, presented, narrated, discussed, performatively translated in or from the respective exhibition situations in and out of the glossary in order to realise an individually and/or collectively developed artistic work.
