The course will provide theoretical knowledge of electrochemistry, which will then be put into practice. A few key dates of the use of electrochemistry in conservation will first be recalled. The following concepts will then be defined:
Basic principles. Definition / meaning and measurement Ecorr.
Metals in solution: parameters affecting Ecorr
Influence of pH on Ecorr (Pourbaix diagrams) and corrosion prediction.
Introduction to potentiostat use: definition of treatment parameters
Practical approach: from potentiostat to current generator
Local treatment: Pleco
The course will present a wide range of applications and provide an insight into the most advanced research in the field.

A 1-hour test will be given at the end of the seminar (10 questions to answer out of 15 questions).
