Gernot Waldner
Institut für Kunst und Gesellschaft, Cross-Disciplinary Strategies
2024W, wissenschaftliches Seminar (SEW), 4.0 ECTS, 2.0 SemStd., LV-Nr. S05324

Beschreibung

The seminar deals with a large topic and simple forms: How did the world change in the last 150 years and what are the graphical attempts to visualize these developments? We will read excerpts from global histories with different topics (politics, resources, legal systems, neoliberalism, economic theory, ...) and discuss different forms of visualization. How can information, critique and empowerment be combined in graphics? And what are the limits of conveying information, criticism and empowerment in different areas?
Depending on the participants, the seminar can proceed from theory to practice or from practice to theory. The course of the seminar will be determined in the opening sessions.

Prüfungsmodalitäten

Both oral exams and practical work are possible and can be arranged individually.
