Description
In this Proseminar we will focus on the early period of video technology, the 60s and the 70s.
The emergence of the new medium, its technical conditions and its characteristics as an electronic, processual, audiovisual, hybrid medium lead to a phase of experimentation among artists and video practitioners alike. New theoretical ideas are developed around the medium, video utopias, connections to socio-political movements and activism as well as new video-specific aesthetics and experiments with self-observation and the perception of time.
Examination Modalities
Regular active attendance (no more than 2 lectures should be missed)
Presentation of an artistic practice or theoretical concept with Power Point
Written text (5 pages according to academic standards)

Oral contributions in English are possible, also presentations can be done in English
