Description
Are artists the cleaners of society? Do they promote alternative models of society? Were they the researchers who influenced art and politics in both technical experimentation and individualistic lifestyles and promoted modern man? Or are these sentimental ideas of a bourgeois society rooted in the cult of genius of Romanticism?
These questions will be explored in presentations (followed by a written versions) and links between the past and present will be analysed.
Examination Modalities
Attendance, discussion, reflection, and a presentation leading to a written proseminar paper are conditions for a positive grade.
Seminar language is German, presentation and paper may be delivered in English.

Seminar participation can only be confirmed by personal attendance at the first two seminar dates.
