2021W
Wolf Mangelsdorf
Institute of Architecture, Structural Design
2024W, scientific seminar (SEW), 3.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S04080
First part of the seminar is a compact lecture series, which will provide a fast paced recap and overview of the principles of structural design and its application using well know illustrative examples.
Following that, students will, in group work, analyze the structural systems and performance of a suitable built example - We will provide a choice of buildings for that - using a combination of observation, interpretive desk top studies, physical model studies and computational analytics.
There will be an oral examination at the end of the seminar, combined with the submission of a set of presentation slides and physical models that outline the required qualitative analysis and its conclusions.
The best examples will be presented at the annual Angewandte Festival, so we expect good quality working models that relate to the analytical work of the seminar.
