  The composition and structure of skin

   The manufacture of leather, parchment and gilt leather

    Deterioration of leather and parchment (theory and practical)

     Examination of leather artefacts (theory and practical)   

     Disinfection,     Cleaning     

     Reshaping of deformed, dry leather objects

     Repair of tears, weak and missing areas, consolidation

      Special problems in leather conservation (fur, composite objects, gilt leather, red rotted leather, etc)         Care and conservation of archaeological leather objects       

        Storage, exhibition and preventive conservation of leather artefacts.

Assesment of leather artefacts (materials, production technique, condition) to provide a solid basis for the preparation of the conservation plan.

We would be happy to receive a few words from the participants  before the beginning of the seminar, about what type of special problems or questions they have with leather artefacts !
