2024W, Vorlesung und Übungen (VU), 2.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S00632
This course, which is compulsory for all first-year conservation students (and open to all disciplines - on request at the Institute), summarizes the majority of all historically applied painting and graphic techniques in a theoretical lecture.
In the practical part of the course, the technical preparations for the historical painting technique of tempera and oil painting (old master mixed technique) are applied in practice: the stretching of stretcher frames, the priming (preparation of a classical, historical primer) of canvas and wooden panels, possibly also the rubbing of tempera paints. This practical part is continued in the seminar Painting Technique II (SS2024).
The aim of the teaching activity is to enable students to recognize and practically understand the technical structure of a historical painting, a painting in general.
A short written test on the theoretical content of the seminar will take place on the last day of the seminar.
