Content:

The workshop is a unique format, specially designed for this Joint Master Programme "Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management". It is attended by all students of the programme and takes place in the conservation studios of the Institute of Conservation. Students work on conservation practice projects together: All projects involve a technical survey, condition report, discussion of concept and measures and its practical execution, and a photographic and written documentation. Students who have attended the preparation course will present their topics within the workshop.

In addition, excursions to sites, museums and storages in Vienna are held; dates are arranged at the beginning of the workshop.

Aim: The course aims to enable the students to impart the methodologies and approaches in conservation and to convey a selected topic of the field of conservation to a group of international peers / students.

Examination Modalities:

Regular attendance (at least 80% presence)

Active participation in discussions

Active participation in conservation practice

Presentation / Teaching unit

Written report including technical survey, condition report, conservation concept and documentation
