2024S, Proseminar (PS), 2.0 ECTS, 1.0 SemStd., LV-Nr. S04923

Beschreibung

The seminar is designed as a participatory reading seminar and can be seen as a continuation of the previous winter semester, but it is not at all necessary to have already attended the reading seminar in the winter semester. The focus lies on the implicit theories of the economic and political.

A survey was carried out in the winter semester to find out which books could be read together in the summer semester.

The survey showed the following results:

1. Silvia Federici - Caliban and the Witch

2. bell hooks - All about love

3. Susan Williams - White Malice: The CIA and the covert Recolonization of Africa

4. Eva Illouz - The End of Love: A Sociology of Negative Relations

5. Kohei Saito - Slow Down

In the first session on March 19 (preliminary discussion), we will decide together on what to read.

There are two main options to choose from:

(a) either we decide on 1 book and for the further sessions chapters of this book will be presented and discussed by small teams;

b) or several books are assigned to several groups and for the further sessions, core chapters of these books are presented and discussed in small teams.

Seminar style:

The seminar is a participatory reading course and students will be given the opportunity to co-design and (co-)moderate sessions in consultation with the course lecturer. More details in the first session.
