The lecture series Sound Art Research is dedicated to pluralistic approaches in the field of reflective engagement with sound and noise in the broadest sense. The cultural and political dimension of sound as a tool for critical engagement with content is an integral part of the lectures, as are artistic strategies and interventions.

Within the scope of the Sound Art Research Lectures, artists and researchers will present their respective positions and methods in the multi-layered field of sound art and sound studies and discuss them with the audience.

The aim of the lecture series is to showcase the widest and most varied range of approaches and the diversity of artistic and research concepts that deal with sound, both in practice and in theory.

The lecture is part of the ÆSR Lab - Applied/Experimental Sound Research Laboratory. ÆSR Lab is a cooperation project of the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Centre Focus Research) and the Artistic Research Center (ARC), the Institute for Composition, Electroacoustics and Tonmeister:innen-Ausbildung (IKE) of the mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the Phonogrammarchiv of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. ÆSR Lab is funded by the BMBWF and in co-operation with the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) of the EU.
