Students should be provided with an understanding of the design of the material world in the subject of Design and Technology. In doing so, they should critically and exploratively examine the relationship between humans and objects. Through design processes, they learn how humans influence materials, objects, technologies, and spaces, and how these in turn influence humans. The production of products serves the need to create and actively design things. This promotes awareness of the selection, origin, processing, and use of materials. At the same time, students develop an appreciative attitude towards their own creations and become sensitized to sustainability.

In this course, using a specifically chosen object (textile or plastic), reverse engineering is employed for analysis. This process of dissecting and analyzing an existing product or system to understand its construction, structure, and functionality offers several advantages for gaining insights into the design process.

Deadlines for submission of the seminar paper: June 30, 2024 / July 31, 2024 / September 1, 2024

The seminar paper, worth 4 ECTS, should comprise 32,500-35,000 characters of text, including spaces, excluding table of contents, bibliography, and appendices. Images should be in a resolution of 300 dpi.
