The things we used to wIn over 40 years of praxis in stage and event design I have tried to teach designers-to-be in lighting at both major Vienna Art Universities for nearly half of the time.ork with have fundamently changed with the developments of recent years. New more energy efficient fixtures with multiple functions are replacing conventioal units. Controlling these multifunctional tools is complex, but the game of angles is the same and there are endless varieties of new colour options. Good communication between artists and technicians is therefore more essential than ever to realize designers intentions in praxis. Therefor  we will develop, exercise and refine individual lighting design approach and fundamentals.

I want to ask participants for a three dimensional draft,  with lighting- and sounddesign notes in text or image during the semester and a preliminaryly final talk about it in May/June.

I think it is important to practice an analytic sight of light and to play with lights to learn or improve a creative grip on lighting. Further it is essential to find an individal way to note and communicate ones lighting design intentions. There are limits to what we can do in the classroom, so it will be useful to take part in practical exercises in the Schauspielhaus Wien.
