Description

Who is the course for?
Anyone who wants to learn how to build user-centered digital products using research and real-world methods.

How ist the course built?
The course is as pracitcal as it gets and it won’t take forever until the students will make their first small real world projects. Design is very important and the focus is on creative industries. (it’s not a computer science lecture)

What students will learn:

• User-centered approach / Design thinking

• Research techniques (qualitative research/quantitative research)

• What goes into a UX design process + how it differs from a traditional graphic design process

• Design patterns

• How to conduct user testing and turning feedback into insight to inform design decisions

• Common UI-Elements (Dropdown, Radio-Button, Checkbox,…)

• Personas & User Flows (turn insights into personas, user journeys, site maps and user flows)

• Sketching + Paper Prototyping

• Wireframing (short tasks -> wireframe registration process, wireframe search and results page, wireframe filters and selection)

Examination Modalities

It's all about getting really into the topic of interface design and UX. The flexibility, effort and creativity during the working process will be more important than the final outcome. You have to show up regularly to the weekly sessions, attendance at the final presentation in the end of the semester is essential.
