Description
Based on the current artistic research projects on cultural landscapes and complex water systems by Herwig Turk, the course will address the transdisciplinary collaboration of local residents, scientists and artists. The central question is: How can artistic research contribute a necessary and at the same time real-utopian perspective and thereby highlight what has remained invisible or all too easily overlooked, and ultimately protect it from (further) damage and hand over a fragile system to a future. The aim of the course is the structural understanding of the different dimensions of the transformation of landscape around a river system. The catchment area and the fine-nerved, networked exchange systems in which a watercourse is embedded are often difficult to identify. The shape of the landscape reflects the forms of use and conflicts of use with the settlements on the banks.
Examination Modalities
At the end of the seminar an artistic work or minimal intervention by the students will be presented in a small group.
