Beschreibung
Lobau Listening Comprehensions
co-teaching with Julia Grillmayr and Sophia Rut
In the project Lobau Listening Comprehensions at Angewandte, Christina Gruber, Julia Grillmayr and Sophia Rut investigate what it could mean to “tune into more-than-human sonic bodies“. In a site-specific exploration of the Lobau, a wetland national park in Vienna, different approaches to audio recording and listening come to the fore: acoustic ecology and site-specific art, environmental history and oral history, science communication and radio art.
In the 2 x 6-hour workshop with the LLC team, you'll get an overview of the various disciplinary approaches combined in this project – and explore with us how they can and should interact. Together, we'll look into the crossings and the boundaries of academia, artistic research, empirical analysis, more-than-human communications and listening.
After a first meeting at the university, we'll go to Lobau together for our second session and try out different ways of listening, recording, collecting and sampling of audio ourselves.
