Description

How can digital tools and digital game elements help to realign the art classroom and capture the interest of young students?

In what ways can gamified lessons help to actively engage students in creative design?

The research approach of Digital Game-Based Learning (DGBL), i.e. the use of digital games in subject lessons, is increasingly expanding the methodological toolbox of teachers.

In this experimental lab, practical examples in the form of digital tools and digital games will be explored for art education and potential applications will be reflected upon.
Based on this, students will develop their own digital, game-based concepts in small groups and revise them through feedback loops.

Students will be encouraged to explore innovative, digital teaching methods and to integrate novel perspectives and methods into art lessons.

Examination Modalities

- Attendance and active participation in the course

- Presentation of the draft project in the course (group work)

- Submission of a short game concept with feedback from the presentations (group work)

Course Objectives:

-  To learn the basics of Digital Game-Based Learning (DGBL) and to be able to reflect critically and evaluate its potential applications for the teaching of the subject.
-  Understand the importance of digital tools and digital game elements in the art education and their potential for reshaping the teaching.
-  Practically apply digital tools and digital games in creative teaching and analyze their impact on the interest of young students
-  Gain hands-on experience with digital tools and games in order to use them in a targeted way in future lessons
-  Use feedback loops constructively to continuously improve digital, game-based concepts.
