Eva Kernbauer
Institute of Studies in Art and Art Education, Art History
2023W, Vorlesungen (VO), 2.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S04729
Description
In this lecture, we will look at artistic and theoretical engagements with concepts of ecological transformation, climate change and the Anthropocene. We will start out with how human interventions into nature and environmental history have been depicted and narrated in art since the early modern era, and continue up to recent projects in ecofeminism, documentarism and artistic research (which will include a series of screenings). The lecture will focus on aspects of temporization and temporality in artworks – utopia/dystopia, stasis, teleology, myth, prehistory, post-history, circular/deep time, etc.– and their political implications.
