Beschreibung

PIXELS, PROPHECIES AND PROPAGANDA

This Lecture is associated with the Angewandte Performance Lab.

We will research on internet-spread theories, stories, folklore, conspiracies and other -most likely- fictional stories. Each student will dig in their favourite internet rabbit-hole and realise a project about it or with-in it. Students are invited to experiment more performative, real-time, volatile way of working rather than realising fixed media products.

Research:
The objective is to delve into specific, unique, and lesser-known internet narratives and theories. The intention is not to verify or invalidate them, but to understand why they exist, how they spread, and to use them as creative resource. Students will undertake small projects that reflects on specific corners of modern society through the lens of the internet. Participants will document and share their research with the class using the platform MIRO.

Output
Students are encouraged to creatively transform and apply their research to crafting content that resonates with their audience. They are encouraged to explore a diverse range of technologies and assistance is available for those interested in delving into the following fields: media performance, interactivity, real-time machine learning, reactive video-mapping, computer vision with different sensors (webcam, Kinect, Smartphones, Leap Motion), computer and software networking (OSC), sound design, composition and time-based dramaturgy, using softwares and platforms like MAX(cycling74.com), Unity, Live, Logic and Mozilla Hubs.
