Description
The objective of the lecture is to impart & develop fundamental facts, theories and principles of for the design of repairable products.
By the means of examples and practical exercises the following topics will by gradually developed:
- Life cycle assessment of products
- Principles of the circular economy
- Avoidance of premature obsolescence
- Possibilities to maximize repairability
- Dealing with conflicting goals
- The right to repair and the role of open source hardware
- Digital fabrication
- Existing standards and directives
Examination Modalities
For the successful completion of the course the following criteria will be used:
- Constant and punctual participation (min. 70% attendance)
- Submission and presentation of the exercises results (50% of the grade)
- Active participation in the discussion (50% of the grade)
