Applied Filmmaking II covers the fundamentals and practice of moving image recording techniques. Specific photographic production activities are introduced. We work with the equipment of the departement and play around producing "Photo-Fingerings".

We will work mainly in the two studios of the department and the multimedia studio of the Institute of Design with artificial and existing light.  The focus is on setting and handling light and we will work with still photography, stop motion and moving camera.

Photo and film instructions are often illustrated with gender stereotypical examples that are not without problems. Depending on the motif, there is a doctrine on correct lighting. As an exercise, we will build classic light settings, but also apply the technique against the doctrine and carefully play with newly selected motifs.

Course immanent. 80% attendance is mandatory.

Applied Filmmaking II  is recommendend  for beginners. Due to a limited number of workstations and equipment, students in the Department of Applied Photography and Time-based Media are given priority when registering for this seminar.

This course counts as the official introduction to the Multimedia Studio and is necessary to book it independently.
