Description

Hue and satisfaction

staged light - inszeniertes Licht

The course is related to the department-wide semester topic of light.

It is offered and conducted together with  Katrin Sailer and accompanied by VIBIA. Complementing registration with Jakob Illera is required.

This course is to be taken as an individual artistic class in the first stage of the Industrial Design program.Project work: project development and development of the prototype

Hue and satisfaction refers to the staging of objects and spaces through targeted control of light and color to direct the gaze, evoke emotions and create atmospheres. Light as a tool to sharpen the viewer's perception or simply to adjust the lighting to the situation. Using modern lighting technology and dynamic light sources to create choreographies changing over time.

Our approach is through the object to be staged:
a special dinner / an object in a museum / a treasure in a showcase / products in a shop window / a performance on a stage / a special place / ...
The luminaire, the luminous body can / should / will also play a part - from supporting actor to leading role.

The professional partner for this project is the Barcelona based lighting company VIBIA.

We start with a workshop in the studio of photographer Andreas Franke (experiment, observation). Lighting designers, architects, light artists will give us insights to their practice. For the beginning of May we plan a field trip to VIBIA in Barcelona.

Weekly group meeting is scheduled for Tuesday mornings.

Examination Modalities

The course has an immanent examination character, attendance and participation in the weekly group meetings is therefore required.

Project development, prototype, presentations and documentation will be assessed.
