In the winter semester 2024 in Design Investigations, the topic is AI Speculations.

For this topic students will explore new imaginaries around artificial intelligence technology. Adopting an imaginative, critical, and speculative approach, we would like to envision alternative and provocative uses, aesthetics, and ideas for the technology. This studio brief aims to cultivate critical thinking and practical technology and design skills among students, enabling them to comprehend the potential and risks associated with AI. This in turn would mean they can go on to become active contributors in envisioning new, alternate possibilities, and shaping future relationships with the technology.

For this brief, we are excited to be collaborating with Google, specifically Google Research’s AI Group Mural, with a mandate to engage in imaginative explorations of the technology and making them tangible through objects, films, games and more. 

 The evaluation will take place over the course of the semester, and final exam will take place  in the form of final design presentations to the jury members.
