What is public space? What are works of art, art projects and interventions in public space? How and by whom are they perceived? What should be considered when producing art in public space? How is it financed? Who takes care of the preservation?

We get answers, among other things, by visiting works of art in public space in Vienna by artists who are still alive, whom we meet on site and who talk about their work and their working methods. These excursions also offer – better than photos – the opportunity to see and experience the impact of the works of art in their surroundings.

The course aims to convey the diverse potential of public space.

Since several courses are canceled due to the many public holidays, an additional date for an excursion outside of Vienna may be set after consultation with the students.
