Description
This course offers a theoretical and practical introduction to b/w photography: explanation of the physical and chemical basics of analogue b/w photography, an overview of materials and chemicals, introduction to common negative and positive developing processes and to the department's enlargers and developing machines. During the course of the semester we will go through the classic darkroom workflow from exposure and negative development to the preparation of prints and their post-processing.
No prior knowledge is required - the course will provide students with the necessary practice to be able to work independently on their projects in the workshop.
Examination Modalities
Presence, as well as active participation and presentation of work samples at the end of the course.
Comments
Limited number of participants (max. 9).
Participation in the preliminary meeting on 10.03. is necessary for taking part in the course.
For the work in the lab it is recommended to bring your own towel and an old T-shirt (or similar or a lab coat)!
