This lecture is about an understandig for high quality garments wherefore high quality finishing techniques are taught.
Technical samples of different finishing techniques will be made (respectively explained in online teaching courses and digital presentations.)
Focus: Finishing of Trousers, Machines: Industrial Sewing Machines, Overlock & Felled Seam Machines, ...
The usage of different Industrial Sewing Machines like Highspeed Lockstick machines, Overlocks, ... will be trained.
Technical terms for communication between designer and operator will be taught throughout the lectures.
Goal:
Acquiring basic, high quality finishing techniques for garments is the main goal.
The knowledge about high-quality garments should be deepened and enhanced
The usage as well as the maintenance of the machines is to be seen as basic-knowledge for finishing- and ironing-processes.
This lecture is the compulsory base for Sewing Techniques - Advanced in the 2nd study segment.
Compulsory attendance!
Exercises and homework have to be handed in at the certain dates.
Furthermore, there is a portfolio with samples and personal notes to create and hand in.
Course with continous assessment.
This course is split into two groups this term:
1.Group - Wednesday 10:00-13:30
2.Group - Friday 9:30-13:00

cutters’s shears (21 - 25 cm blade), hand shears, steel pins, needles , pin cushion, thimble, seam ripper, tracing paper, tracing wheel, tailor’s chalk, tape measure, large set-square/ triangle (30 cm), french curve,
pencils, ballpen, eraser, 1 folder, 1 A4-envelope for pattern pieces, adhesive tape (Scotch), glue stick, paper scissors, stickers, evtl. workwear
